How to Connect Your HP Printer to WiFi

A wireless HP printer lets you print from any device in your home or office. Here's how to connect yours to WiFi.

HP printer wireless setup steps:

  1. On your HP printer's control panel, press the Wireless button or go to Settings → Wireless → Wireless Setup Wizard

  2. Select your WiFi network name (SSID) from the list

  3. Enter your WiFi password

  4. Wait for the printer to connect — the wireless light stops blinking and stays solid

  5. Print a Wireless Test Report to confirm the connection

Connect via HP Smart app:

  1. Download the HP Smart app on your phone (Android or iPhone)

  2. Open the app and tap "Set Up a New Printer"

  3. Follow the steps to connect your HP printer to WiFi

Troubleshooting HP WiFi connection:

  • Make sure your printer is within range of your router

  • Use the 2.4GHz band — most HP printers don't support 5GHz

  • If your WiFi password changed, run the Wireless Setup Wizard again
