How to Print Double-Sided on Your HP Printer

Printing double-sided (duplex printing) saves paper and gives your documents a professional look. Here's how to set it up on your HP printer.

Automatic two-sided printing (if your HP printer has a duplexer):

  1. Open the document you want to print

  2. Click File → Print

  3. Click Printer Properties or Preferences

  4. Look for Two-Sided Printing or Duplex Printing

  5. Select Flip on Long Edge (for portrait documents) or Flip on Short Edge (for landscape)

  6. Click OK and Print

Manual two-sided printing (if your HP printer doesn't have a duplexer):

  1. Print odd pages first — in Printer Properties, select Odd Pages Only

  2. Take the printed pages out of the output tray

  3. Flip the stack and reload into the input tray

  4. Print even pages — select Even Pages Only

How to check if your HP printer supports automatic duplex:

  • Check your printer model on support.hp.com

  • Look for "Automatic Two-Sided Printing" or "Auto Duplex" in the specifications

Setting double-sided as default:

  1. Go to Devices and Printers → right-click your HP printer → Printing Preferences

  2. Set Two-Sided Printing as default → click OK
