How to Set Up Your HP Printer — Complete Guide

Setting up a new HP printer is straightforward when you follow the right steps. Here's how to do it for both USB and wireless connections.

HP printer setup — USB:

  1. Unbox your HP printer and plug in the power cord

  2. Turn the printer on

  3. Connect the USB cable from the printer to your computer

  4. Windows will automatically detect the printer and install drivers

  5. If not, download the driver from support.hp.com

HP printer wireless setup:

  1. On your printer's display, go to Settings → Wireless Setup Wizard

  2. Select your WiFi network name and enter your password

  3. Once connected, download the HP driver on your computer

  4. During installation, select "Wireless" as the connection type

  5. Follow the steps to complete setup

HP printer setup on Mac:

  1. Go to System Preferences → Printers & Scanners

  2. Click the "+" button to add a printer

  3. Select your HP printer from the list and click Add
