HP Printer Scanner Not Working? Here's the Fix

If your HP all-in-one printer's scanner has stopped working, here are the most common causes and fixes.

Common HP scanner problems:

  • Scanner not detected by your computer

  • HP scan software won't open

  • Scan quality is poor (blurry, dark, or faded)

How to fix HP scanner not working:

  1. Restart the HP printer and your computer — a simple restart fixes most scanner detection issues.

  3. Reinstall HP scan software: Go to support.hp.com → download the full feature software for your HP model. Uninstall the old software first, then install the new version.
