HP Printer Showing Offline? Here's the Fix

When your HP printer shows as "Offline," it means your computer can't communicate with it — even if the printer is powered on.

Steps to fix HP printer offline error:

  1. Make sure your HP printer is turned on and connected to WiFi or USB

  2. On Windows: go to Control Panel → Devices and Printers → right-click your HP printer → click "See what's printing"

  3. In the menu bar, click Printer → uncheck "Use Printer Offline"

  4. Restart both your printer and computer

  5. If still offline, remove the printer from your PC and re-add it

For wireless HP printers:

  • Disconnect and reconnect the printer to your WiFi network

  • Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer's control panel to confirm it's connected

  • Make sure your router hasn't changed the WiFi password
