HP Printer Error Codes — Complete Guide
HP printers display error codes when something goes wrong. Here's what the most common ones mean and how to fix them.
Error 0x61011bed / 0x61000016 — Carriage jam:
Open the printer cover and check for any paper or debris blocking the ink carriage
Gently move the carriage to the center and remove the obstruction
Restart the printer
Error E3 / E4 — Paper jam:
Open the paper tray and rear access door
Remove jammed paper carefully
Reload fresh paper and restart
Error 49 — Firmware error (LaserJet):
Turn off the printer and disconnect from the network
Hold the power button for 30 seconds
Reconnect and turn back on
Error 79 — Internal firmware error (LaserJet):
Clear the print queue on your computer
Update printer firmware from support.hp.com
If the error persists, perform a factory reset
"Ink System Failure" error:
Turn printer off and back on
