HP OfficeJet Printer Support — Common Issues and Fixes

HP OfficeJet printers are all-in-one workhorses. Here's how to fix the most common problems.

Common HP OfficeJet issues:

  • OfficeJet won't print or is offline

  • Scanner not working on OfficeJet

  • Fax setup or sending issues

  • WiFi dropping on OfficeJet

  • Ink cartridge errors

Printer offline:

  1. Restart the OfficeJet and your router

  2. Go to Devices and Printers on your PC → right-click OfficeJet → click "Use Printer Online"

Scanner not working:

  1. Open HP Smart or HP Scan software

  2. If the scanner isn't detected, reinstall the full HP software suite from support.hp.com

  3. For USB connected OfficeJet, try a different USB cable or port

WiFi dropping:

  1. Move the OfficeJet closer to your router

  2. Run the Wireless Network Test from the printer menu

  3. Assign a static IP address to prevent the printer from dropping off the network

Fax not working:

  1. Check the phone line connection at the back of the OfficeJet

  2. Run a Fax Test from the printer's setup menu

  3. Make sure the fax number is correct — include area code
