How to Fix HP Printer Offline Issue

Is your HP printer showing as "Offline" even though it's turned on? This is one of the most common HP printer problems — and it's fixable in minutes.

Why is my HP printer showing offline?

  • The printer lost its connection to your WiFi network

  • Windows set the printer to "Use Printer Offline" mode

  • A stuck print job is blocking the queue

  • Outdated HP printer driver

Step-by-step fix:

  1. Make sure your HP printer is powered on and connected to your WiFi or USB cable

  2. On Windows: go to Control Panel → Devices and Printers

  3. Right-click your HP printer → click "See what's printing"

  4. In the top menu, click Printer → uncheck "Use Printer Offline"

  5. Cancel any stuck print jobs in the queue

  6. Restart your HP printer and try printing again

If still offline:

  • Restart your router

  • Remove the printer from Windows and re-add it

  • Reinstall the HP printer driver from support.hp.com
